Here’s a different way to play the blues! B.B. King provides us with a very playful guitar part. You can practice it along with the backing track, too.
For this riff, you may want to use your thumb for the “low E” string notes, as it will provide much more ease in playing the riff. The option is still totally up to you though. In this riff, you will be focusing on some palm mutes and a slide, as well as some “vibrato.” Vibrato is when you rapidly shake the string being played with your fret hand as much as possible to produce a wah-like effect. This riff is set to 144 bpm (beats per minute).

Here’s a great SRV riff. It’s a challenge to play it up to speed at first, so I’ve included an audio sample of it somewhat slower than the recorded version. You may need to start off even slower. There’s nothing wrong with that, just take your time. Like I said, it’s pretty hard. The main riff is played as an intro to the song and after each transition after the verse and chorus.
